Sea Monster
Up until today, I was contemplating doing a bit of sea fishing. I've never had the opportunity in Thailand but did quite a lot of it in my own country and caught some pretty weird fish. But, after seeing what someone else pulled out of the sea, I'm beginning to have second thoughts. Not only of never fishing in the sea again but also of ever setting foot in it.

Storm
Tropical Storm
There's a tropical storm over my area at the moment called MangkhutRain is generally good to get fish more active, but when there's too much it tends to wash a lot of plants, insects and other crap from land into the water which the fish eat. Hopefully they'll take the bait on Monday and wont already be too spoiled for choice.

Holiday
Drought
I made it to Petchabun but unfortunately the location I had initially chosen wasn't really worth trying out because the water was very low as you can see from the pictures belowRiver dam in Petchabun |

Sunset
I decided to venture a little further down river and try my luck. The sun was beginning to set while I was on my way which provided a very nice backdrop

Weir
I reached another spot by a weir and decided to give it a pop. The light was fading fast but I managed to get my gear set up about 10 minutes before the last of it. The water was very brown and murky so I decided against using spinners and used some good old homemade bait instead which absolutely stinks but is good for attracting fish.

Bites
I dinked my bait in at the foot of the weir and immediately started getting bites ............................. from mosquitoes. The nasty little critters had their knives and forks out just waiting for dinner which happened to be me! I managed to endure the mozzies in the dark for about 2 hours before calling it quits. I'd have stayed longer if there was any action but I only managed to catch 2 tiddlers which the locals call 'Pla Goad'. They look like a type of catfish but I'm not sure of the English name. If any of you recognize them, let me know.

Hope
It's the rainy season now so it won't be long before rivers and lakes are brimming with water and hopefully fish too.

Weekend
Freedom
It's time to rectify my lack of fishing time and get my rod out! I have a long weekend coming up. 4 days of relative freedom from the constraints of...............erm............constrainy things. A fishing trip is in the works and I've decided to grace(sully) Petchabun with my presence.Secret
I'm not quite sure what the fishing is like there but I know of a small dam on one of the rivers and I fully intend on turning it into my "secret fishing spot". I'm gonna try both lures and foody things to get an idea of what lurks beneath. So stay tuned to find out whether I have caught my Moby Dick or am just left standing with one on my hand. That doesn't sound right!Damn Aliens! They got me again.
Oops! It seems as though these prolonged breaks from fishing are becoming a bit of a habit with me. I desperately want to dust off my rod and reel again but there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day. The closest I've been to a fish recently was packed on ice in Tesco Lotus. Not exactly the stuff of anglers dreams, is it!
